I am from Houston, TX but have been living in Muskegon, MI for the last almost 6 years. I struggled with drug addiction for over a decade, and I am also a survivor of Domestic Violence and Trafficking. This May, I will be clean for 6 years, and I have been free from abuse for 6 years. I have experienced CPS and the foster care system, but was able to regain custody of my son 6 years ago. My husband, who was also my abuser, passed away in 2018 of a suicidal overdose. I currently work as a Recovery Coach, but I also do Life Coaching and I am a contracted Police Academy Instructor for GVSU (Grand Valley State University) where I do Scenario based training for cadets that are soon to graduate. I also speak and train every 6 months for CIT (Crisis Intervention Training) Where several community agencies and individuals come together to provide information and educatioe of two ARCn to Law Enforcement and First Responders for Mental Health and Substance Use. I also speak occasionally at my local Domestic Violence and Trafficking shelters. Recently I have partnered with a private practice and a local SUD drop in center, onO's in our city, where we are helping bring more groups to the community and additional training to local Recovery Coaches.
